Father’s Day Weekend Events in Northern Ohio – June 17-21, 2015

The third weekend in June is packed with activities for anyone visiting Northern Ohio. Since Father’s Day occurs during the weekend, how about treating your hubby or dad to a fun weekend away? Some of them are close to Angel Welcome Bed and Breakfast, and some are far, but all are accessible for a fun day trip with the inn as your home base. Here are a few of these fun events, along with their general distance from the inn.

First, starting June 17th through June 21st, is the 42nd annual St. Nicholas Festival in Struthers, Ohio, about a 2 hour drive from Milan. The festival is held from 6:00-10:00pm Wednesday; 6:00-11:00pm Thursday & Sunda, and 6:00pm-midnight Friday and Saturday. There will be drawings, music, and gambling. Tickets are $2 for adults.

Also about 2 hours from the B&B, is the  Bolivar Strawberry Festival, which will be held in Downtown Bolivar from
Thursday, June 18th through Saturday, June 20th. The parade begins at
4:00pm on Saturday, also enjoy amusement rides, Bolivar Idol Competition, and food from local non profits, vendors, and restaurants. Free to attend. 

An hour and a half away are the eerie Lantern Tours at the Lake County History Center in Painesville, Ohio on June 19th. Explore the spooky past with only the light of a flickering candle while hearing historically documented stories to send shivers down your spine! 

A nice evening trip to the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival to view the timeless works of the Bard played out on stage is only an hour and a quarter from Angel Welcome. The plays will be produced outdoors, so bring your chairs and blankets (alternate indoor arrangements will be made in case of weather.). The plays are done in a different location depending on which night you attend:
Friday, June 19 – Cahoon Park West, Bay Village, Saturday, June 20 – Lakewood Park, Lakewood, Sunday, June 21 – Stocker Arts Center, Lorain County Community College, Elyria. This is a free event!

45 minutes drive will find you at the Waterfront Wine Festival, held at Veterans Memorial Park in  Avon Lake on Saturday June 20, 2015, from 4pm-Sunset. Enjoy food and wine samples and lovely music while viewing the beautiful sunset over the lake.

Just 30 minutes from Milan is the 10th Annual Car Show at Chautauqua in Lakeside. The show is Saturday, June 20th from 4-8pm, followed by a concert on the grounds that evening. Agte fee applies  – $20.50/adult, unless you bring your classic car to show! Registration begins at 1:30 for exhibitors.

Only 20 minutes from us is the eagerly anticipated Festival of the Fish in Vermillion. Held June 19-21, the fish fest delivers multiple parades, a fishing derby, a pageant, fireworks, food and crafts booths and much more!

No matter which of these great events you choose, you’ll have a great place to rest for the night and a wonderful homemade breakfast at Angel Welcome Bed and Breakfast!
