The time is almost upon us for the annual Milan Melon Festival! The Melon Fest draws tens of thousands of people to the beautiful village of Milan each year, to celebrate the Watermelon and Cantaloupe harvests, and enjoy family-friendly fun in the process.
This is the festival’s 58th year, and will be held on Labor Day weekend. This gives you 3 full days to come to town and get in on the action at the Milan Village Square. The events list is amazing! Included are a 5K and Fun Run, Beautiful Baby Pageant, a Cornhole Tournament, a Car Show, live entertainement, and of course, the not-to-be-missed Grand Parade. Some events require pre-registration.
Saturday Events:
8 am – St. Anthony’s Pancake Breakfast
9 am – Car Show at Edison Elementary
11 am – Beautiful Baby Contest
5:30 pm – Melon Queen Contest
Sunday Events:
11am – Firemen’s Chicken Barbecue
2 pm – Grand Parade
7-9 pm – Middle School Dance
Monday Events:
8:30 -9 am – Fun Run and 5K
10 am – Cornhole Tournament
10 am – Kids’ Pedal Tractor Pull
In the midst of all of the scheduled events, there will be carnival rides. lots and lots of food vendors with all different kinds of delicious fair delicacies, live music and other diversions. You will be able to partake of melon slices, full melons, and OF COURSE, our Famous Muskmelon (canteloupe) Ice Cream and Watermelon Sherbet. You can even get melon ice cream in a melon! Two kinds of cool refreshment!
