Love history? If so, stay with us at Angel Welcome Bed & Breakfast to have a comfortable and welcoming home base to return to from the 2022 Historic Weekend at Perry’s Island! This September at Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial, a full weekend of wonderful events commemorating the Battle of Lake Erie will take place. It’s a fabulous drive, especially if you’re here from drier climates – it’s about an hour, but part of that is driving over Sandusky Bay on Hwy 269, then to the ferry over to Put-In-Bay – how fun!
Saturday morning starts at 11am with a Memorial Service for the Battle of Lake Erie and September 11th with a Procession to the Memorial. After that, all day Saturday and Sunday until 4pm, visit the historic encampment and view multiple demonstrations of muskets, artillery, small arms and fife & drums.
A big feature of the weekend is the famous parade, joined by more than 1000 Boy Scouts, along with multiple high school marching bands and antique/vintage automobiles. In addition, there will be and craftspeople displaying and selling their creations and War of 1812 re-enactments going on in different spots on the island.
