Northern Ohio – Top Five Things to Do in October 2022!

October is a wonderful time to be in Northern Ohio. Angel Welcome Bed & Breakfast has got a list of the top five things to do for your fall fun getaway – make your plans and get ready to anticipate an amazing autumn!

All through October, Downtown Vermilion hosts Shake Rattle and Stroll, in which downtown businesses gussy up skeletons in weird and funny ways for a whole month of “skelefun”! Surprises will be added as October comes closer on the calendar! Download a walking map or pick one up at Main Street Vermilion so you don’t miss any of the participating businesses.

The Oak Harbor Apple Festival is the first full weekend of the month. This is a real fun festival, which includes a 5K, Cornhole Tournament, Car & Bike Show, a Baby Contest, Baking Contests with pies, cupcakes, breads and more, a Grand Parade, and an entertainment tent with live music and karaoke. Don’t miss the Beer Garden, mechanical rides and over 130 vendors. Shuttles will run from the high school for $1 per person.
When: October 8-9, 2022

Cost: Entry is FREE, bring money for food, drinks, rides and vendor items

The same weekend, Oktoberfest at Put-in Bay is happening. You’ll find wonderful German food and beer, live music, and POLKA dancing! Don’t forget the desserts! Celebrate the culture and fun of the American German people in Ohio.
When: October 8-9, 2022
Where: The large tent located on Toledo Avenue across from the BoatHouse
Cost: $4.00 for a 1-day pass, $6.00 for a 2-day pass. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult

Later in the month, Sandusky Witches’ Walk takes place on October 22. Head to Downtown Sandusky to take part in a night of frolicsome fun (ADULT fun – this is a 21 and over event). You ‘ll have a chance to imbibe in beverages, take part in a witches’ costume contest, listen to live music while hopping on and off of the shuttle – make sure to buy a raffle ticket from one of the participating businesses for a chance at $2500! Basic Witch tickets are $25.00 and Supreme Witch tickets are $50.00. Tickets go on sale Monday, October 3rd.

And now for our final October event – Count Krumnow’s Tombstone Derby! Put on by the Elmore Historical Society, in honor of “Count” Lowell Krumnow – the founder of the EHS and his passion for the Spirit of Halloween, the Derby day will usually include a punkin’ chuckin’ contest for kids, delicious food, kids and pets costume contest, all leading up to the a “Parade of Fools”, casket races, and the Tombstone Derby! A true home town event – harking back to the days of wholesome fun for everyone!
